In 2008, Fort McKinley Church was a dying, inner-city church with a dwindling membership, out of touch with its community and losing hope. The brave decision to merge with Ginghamsburg Church that year brought new life and new hope to the community of believers. This new life took shape in many ways: an increase in attendance from 40 to more than 400, a commitment to relevant worship, deep discipleship and faith formation, and a renewed focus on missional relationships with the surrounding community. Today, Fort McKinley is one of the most vibrant, diverse and exciting faith communities in the city of Dayton.
