Executive Pastor of New Church Development Rosario Picardo
Rosario (Roz) is a follower of Jesus, husband to Callie who he first met at Starbucks and father to Lily. He happens to be “a very regular dude” that God has entrusted with a vision for ministering to the people of Dayton. Roz grew up in western New York as a first-generation Sicilian-American. In 2003, he earned his B.A. in Religion from Houghton College, and in 2007 a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and 2014 a Doctoral Degree from United Theological Seminary.
Initially, God called Roz to seminary to be a chaplain in the military where he severed four years in the Marine Reserves and five years in the Navy Reserves. While in seminary as he was he fell in love with the local church while attending The Rock/La Roca United Methodist Church and working there as the custodian. He eventually became the associate pastor before being called to church planting. In Roz's first church he had his car stolen and sold for 20 bucks, his tires slashed, his house vandalized, and his life threatened because of his dedication to carrying out his call.
While at Embrace Church, the plant he started in Lexington grew to three different communities, he felt a draw to Dayton, Ohio. In 2014 Roz and Callie answered God's call to make a move where he accepted the role of Executive Pastor of New Church Development for Ginghamsburg Church and Campus Pastor of The Point. After three years Roz planted another Ginghamsburg campus in partnership with Christ Church Kettering called Mosaic Church at The Rave Movie Theater in The Greene.
Roz leads a consulting group for church planters/pastors called Picardo Coaching LLC and is the author of Embrace: A Church Plant That Broke All the Rules (Pickwick Publications), Ministry Makeover: Recovering a Theology of Bivocational Ministry (Wipf & Stock Publishers) and Funding Ministry with Five Loaves and Two Fishes (Abingdon Press).
