Taking it to the streets: the revitalization of an urban church
with Campus Pastor Dave Hood
Wednesday, October 21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Spend a day at the Fort - Ginghamsburg's newest worshipping community - and our mission outpost into Dayton, named by Forbes magazine as one of the 10 fastest dying cities in America. Just over 18 months ago, Fort McKinley United Methodist Church averaged 40 people in weekend worship. Now this vibrant church of nearly 300 urban missionaries, which merged with Ginghamsburg in July '08, is bringing new life and hope to its "at risk" urban community.
Key strategies you'll explore with Pastor Dave and his team are:
- Project Neighborhood - a commitment to rebuilding the city one block at a time
- Hot breakfast - designed to reach the neighborhood AND supported by spiritual growth opportunities for all ages
- Intentional community outreach - including a food pantry, Clubhouse after-school program and an exciting partnership with the neighborhood's local pulbic school
…plus more. If God can do it through Fort McKinley, he can do it through your church, too!
