The food pantry provides a variety of canned and packaged non-perishable food, as well as fresh bread, produce, and frozen meats, vegetables, and assorted meals and desserts. Families must meet federal poverty income guidelines and may receive food once a month. Servants (our volunteers) have a brief interview with each client to determine what needs, besides food, we can also provide from our other ministries. Files are kept on all clients to insure we comply with all federal regulations.
The pantry is kept stocked with food from a variety of sources. A major contribution comes the first week-end of each month when Ginghamsburg holds a food drive during all services. Shared Harvest provides a very large delivery of food and non-food commodities once a month at costs that are far below market value. Local grocery stores and other vendors donate a wide variety of goods from their excess stock. When necessary, we purchase basic food items to keep the shelves adequately stocked.
For food assistance please bring your State ID AND proof of address in the form of a utility bill or postmarked mail (within the last 30 days) with your name and address on it."
The food pantry is dependent upon food donations from the community. If you would like to donate food items be sure to include some of the items listed below as these are the most needed.
