The Purpose of the Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship to honor the life of Janice Davis and perpetuate her influence by providing an annual scholarship to a person or persons studying for the ministry of professional Christian care-giving.

Scholarship Candidates

This $700 scholarship is available regardless of age of the candidate, scholastic performance, or of past scholarship awards.

The award would be granted in accordance with the following candidacy priorities:

First priority: a qualified candidate who is a current or former Stephen Minister (or Ginghamsburg Lay Pastor) now preparing for a professional ministry in Christian counseling

Second priority: a qualified candidate who is a current or former Stephen minister (or Ginghamsburg Lay Pastor) now preparing for professional pastoral ministry

Third priority: a qualified candidate who is preparing for a professional ministry in Christian counseling but who has not been a Stephen Minister (or Ginghamsburg Lay Pastor)

Fourth priority: a qualified candidate who is preparing for professional pastoral ministry but who has not been a Stephen minister (or Ginghamsburg Lay Pastor)

Please answer the following essay questions:

1. Describe your experience of God's call into Christian ministry.
2. What Christian ministries have you been involved in?
3. What training, other than college or seminary, have you experienced?
4. If you were to receive this year's scholarship, how would you use it?
5. If you could do anything in ministry that you desire, what would it be?
