The Times-Picayune, the major newspaper in New Orleans, published the article "Servants, Not Volunteers" on June 22, featuring Ginghamsburg Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in the Gulf.
Read the thank-you letter below from U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu in response to The Times-Picayune article.

Everyone deserves to hear the good news of Jesus. For those born deaf, this creates a need and an opportunity to share in a special way. Those who can speak in sign or who are willing to commit to learning can reap wonderful rewards for the Kingdom.
In addition to what we are able to accomplish right here at home, we invest in strategic global partnerships and encourage each cell groups to be involved in sending and equipping those who minister beyond our immediate area. If you have a heart for distant peoples, those in prison, or those who are away at school, the distant missions team can help you work out your passions. Below is a list of some of the supported missionaries.
Jail and Prison Ministries
If visiting those who are in prison is your desire, we are linked with a number of organizations where you can serve.
Supported Servants
Sometimes we simply finance the work of others who can go to far-off places. We have a role to encourage and pray for those we financially support. If prayer and encouragement are your gifts, this is the place for you.
