In light of Rose Pean's love and concern for the Youth Ministry at Ginghamsburg Church, this scholarship is established for Christian young people pursuing higher education. Filling needs was one of Rose's goals of life while loving others. These set requirements serve as a challenge for our high school and college students.
The memorial scholarship fund was started in January 1988 by the family of Rose and Fred Pean. The family asked that a scholarship board select the recipients and distribute the funds. The original board members selected by the family were Nancy Cook, Ruth Miller, Lucille Heitzman, Susan Iler and Fred Pean. Over the years, Ruth Miller and Fred Pean were replaced by Mary Mikel and Bernie Gheen. Recipients of previous scholarship awards are listed below.
