When we give our lives to Jesus a mysterious transformation begins to take place. Life replaces death and faith replaces fear. No longer life-takers, we become life-givers, honoring God and blessing people…
II Corinthians 8:1-5
Read II Corinthians 8:1-5. In order to be empowered to live a kingdom lifestyle, we must daily be dedicated to two key life objectives, to be faithful and to be fruitful. Since God often uses us, “the body of Christ,” to intervene in the needs and tragedies of the world, it becomes imperative that we maximize our lives to loose heaven’s resources into this world. Since God is faithful to us, we need to become faithful to this heavenly calling on all our lives.
- Name a way God has been faithful to you this year.
- Have you ever felt that God was indifferent or uninvolved in a serious personal life situation? Explain.
- How have you seen God intervene in your life through the “body of Christ?” How did that affect your relationship with the community of believers?
Our first commitment to living an empowered kingdom lifestyle is wholly giving ourselves to Jesus Christ. Being a Christian is much more than just being forgiven of our sins. It means restoration and whole life transformation as we go through an often painful process taking us from death to life. Many of us still have massive areas in our lives untouched by God’s power where we remain shallow and unfruitful. Faithfulness requires that we continually work to allow Christ to transform all of the areas of our lives.
- Name a way you have moved from death to life in your walk with Jesus.
- What has been an area of transformation in your life since meeting Jesus?
- What area in your Christian walk is still at a shallow level and needs more depth?
Read II Corinthians 9:8-11 & I Corinthians 2:11, 16. When we are faithful to Christ, God blesses us with fruitfulness. Fruitfulness, however, is not the final objective. To live empowered kingdom lifestyles we must use our fruitfulness to impact the lives and needs of others, for this is what God truly desires. When we give our lives over to Christ, our thoughts and minds begin to reflect the priorities and purposes of God. It is then that God begins to fully use us to bring heaven into this broken world.
- Where have you seen God’s fruitfulness in your life when you acted faithfully?
- Describe a time that God’s priority became your priority. What happened?
- How has God blessed you with fruitfulness? How will you become more faithful to bless the world with God’s abundance?
Read John 14:12 and II Corinthians 9:12-15. It is through the power of Christ in our hearts and lives that we can and will do the work of God around us in the world. By using God’s abundance given to us the whole world will also witness and experience Jesus Christ’s love and forgiveness. We just need to become more faithful with the fruit we have to bring God’s love into this world.
- Is God calling you to become more faithful with your life, or more fruitful loosing heaven’s resources into the world?
