As you prepare to leave 2007, you may be facing events and responsibilities in 2008 that seem overwhelming and too much to handle. The good news is that God has given you instructions on how to crossover, how to prepare for new beginnings, and how to get ready for the new things that God is about to do in your life.

• What are some major events or responsibilities you are facing in 2008?

Read Joshua 3:1-4, Psalm 119:105, & Isaiah 42:16. As you seek direction, growth, and transformation, it is first of all imperative to allow the Word of God to be your spiritual GPS for 2008. The Israelites didn’t have the navigational systems like you have today, but relied heavily upon God, God’s word, and the Ark of the Covenant to lead them to next place in their journey. Just as the Ark was a visual representation of God’s word and direction, the Bible gives you the same counsel and direction for the steps God has for you this upcoming year. But the only way you will be able to successfully understand and handle everything that comes at you, especially those unexpected obstacles, is through studying and meditating on God’s Word.

• Describe a time that following the Word helped you through a tough or challenging situation?


• How much do you study the Word of God? Should you increase it this year?

Read Joshua 3:5. The second thing the Israelites had to do was sanctify or purify themselves in anticipation of God’s movement on their behalf. They had to get rid of those things that were hindering their walk with God, and you need to do the same. If you want to see the transformational work of God in your life or to experience the new thing that God is ready to do through your life this year, you must begin rooting out some of the old habits and ways that keep you from getting to that next spiritual level. Read II Corinthians 5:17.

• What old habit, way, perspective is keeping you from experiencing that new thing God wants for your life? What will you do about it?

Read Joshua 3:6 & Hebrews 11:6. Once you deal with those habits or patterns that keep robbing you from your God destiny, you must activate your faith. It is not good enough to merely hear and meditate on God’s Word; you must activate your faith and take the next step. Faith is one of the vital components needed to courageously crossover, and the good news is that God will even give you the action steps in taking those risky next few steps. Many people have dreams and plans that God has given them but fail to take any steps toward reaching those dreams. Activating your faith most often just means waking up and committing yourself to action.

• Where in your life do you need to just wake up and begin walking in faith?

Read Joshua 3:7, 13. Finally, once you’ve become proactive in your faith steps, anticipate a miracle! God’s power coupled with your action brings about God miracles. Even when there are big rivers to cross and giants on the other side, God promises to bring about God’s great work in your life whatever your circumstances may be.
