: Confronting Spiritual CowardiceSunday, Mar 22 2009
Like Jesus' disciple Peter, our spiritual cowardice often makes it feel easier to die for Jesus, than to live for him. Only when we focus on Christ's power--not our own ability or failures--do we become the channel through which God releases his purpose.
- Name some ways you think we regularly betray Christ, even though we are Jesus' followers.
- Where do you think you are "kind of a coward" in your spiritual life? Why do you think that is?
- In what areas of your life are you "self-reliant," not really needing or seeking God's help?
- Do you ever struggle with guilt, or doubt God's love and forgiveness? What helps you get back on track?
- Whom would you personally die for today? Why would you do that?
- Do you have a "no quit" attitude, or are you easily discouraged? What encourages you to get back up when you fail?
- How do you seek after God's heart? Do you do it on a daily basis? Why or why not?
- What do you need to do to confront your spiritual cowardice? Who will help you continue seeking God's heart and purpose? Ultimate failure … losing the trust and respect of God
