INTRO–‘God’s Gift to You’

When you make a commitment to God through repentance and subsequent baptism, God makes a commitment to you and sends you a great gift, the Holy Spirit. It is this communion with God that not only brings power to living, but also bring oneness and unity to all who live in God’s presence. This is one of many signs that the Holy Spirit resides within you.

• How do you know the Holy Spirit is present in your life right now? Are there visible signs?

ONENESS #1–‘One with the Saints’Read Acts 2:1 & I Corinthians 10:17

God deliberately sent the Holy Spirit to the world when the body of Jesus followers were together because the purposes of the Holy Spirit in the world is bigger than any individual and is not just your own private or personal matter. The Spirit in your life instantly connects you to all the saints and followers of Christ who have and will ever live. One reason you are connected to the body of Christ is that you are healthier, wiser, and stronger when you are connected with others than you will ever be by yourself.

• When you are confronted with a difficult task or decision do you normally seek wisdom from others or try to figure it out on your own? Which has been more helpful?

• How have you seen the Holy Spirit work within or through your cell group as a whole?

ONENESS #2–‘One with God’Read Acts 2:2-4; John 14:17-18; & John 16:8, 13-14

Not only does the Holy Spirit make you one with the saints, it also makes you one with God. Though never merely a private matter, God’s interaction with you is distinctly unique and certainly intimate. The Spirit’s presence does commune with your spirit and specifically brings conviction and guidance to your life as well as glorifies Jesus to you and the world.

• How has the Holy Spirit worked in your life in convicting you of sin? What about guiding you into the will of God?


• How often do you seek guidance for your life? What do you do?

ONENESS #3–‘One for the World’Read Acts 2:5-11; & Ephesians 2:14-15

Finally, the Holy Spirit brings about a restoration of the world tearing down barriers that have kept people from God. Just as many people from different nations were present when the Spirit first came, you are to be a restoring force to the whole world, bringing God’s love, grace and redemption wherever you are and wherever God sends you. Read Romans 8:14.

• How has the Holy Spirit restored you since you received Jesus Christ in your heart? How are you being a restoring force to others around you?


• Where do you feel God is sending you to be a restoring force in the world? What will you do?
