INTRO–‘The Vision’

Several years ago a group of young people decided to pray non-stop for a month and they did so with members taking shifts so that someone was praying every hour of the day. Incredible things happened that month, friends came to know Jesus, people were miraculously healed and their community made some great changes. This spurred them on to do this for 3 more months which has now turned into 11 years and the movement has spread to ninety countries. This worldwide presence is literally changing the world causing many people to want to be a part of this great movement. Something deep inside you probably would love to be a part of a world changing movement like this for Jesus Christ and the reason is because you were made by God for such a thing as this.

• Have you ever wanted to be a part of a great movement or a great organization? Which one and why?


• Have you ever longed to truly become a world changing revolutionary of Jesus Christ? Name some of the prisons that keep you from living a ‘sold out’ life for Christ.

STEP #1–‘Understanding Who We Are’Read Ephesians 2:10

This Ephesians passage makes it clear that you were uniquely created by God. However, when looking closely at this verse the word used for workmanship or handiwork is the same word that can also mean fiction. Fiction is the product of one’s imagination and before God ever created anything, God imagined it first. Before there was a sun, God imagined what the sun would be like, how hot and how big it would be. Before there were trees God had to imagine what they would look like, what colors and varieties there would be. And before you were created God saw you in his mind, how tall you were, the color of your hair and eyes, what your nose, hands and feet would look like. God with limitless time, resources and imagination dreamed you into existence, the very image of God’s own self. You were not an accident or a piece of junk but a masterful creation of God.

• Have you ever thought of yourself as an “extremely creative work” of God? How does that thought shape your self picture?


• How do you evaluate your true potential as a magnificent creation of God?

STEP #2–‘Created for Good Works’Read Matthew 16:25

But being created by God is only half of God’s plan. You were also created by God to do good works in the name of Jesus Christ. And simply put, this means that your identity as God’s workmanship can only be fully realized through action. You were created to serve. When you serve and give of yourself you begin to rub up against who you were created to be and then you really begin to understand that joy and fulfillment which only comes when you give your life away. Life is found in giving it away; that is how God created you.

• How often do you give your time away for Jesus? What have you discovered when you do that?


• As God’s workmanship what do you think you were born or created to do? Have you stepped into that role at anytime in your life? Are you ready to step into it now?

STEP #3–‘Step Out and Do Church’

The problems you face in becoming that revolutionary servant of Jesus is that you get stuck in a life of unfulfilling routine or become defined by people, jobs, materialism, etc., instead of God. You are not just a paycheck, a mother, a boss, a student, a divorcee, or a spouse. You are the reality of God’s imagination and you were made to change the world. It is easy to make excuses or get trapped waiting for something to happen. But God is saying to you today, step out and serve where God has placed you and become that world-changer for Jesus Christ. You were made for this.

• What or who defines you? (job, relationships, family, money, etc.) Is it a proper definition of who you really are? What situation is defining who you are right now?


• What spontaneous acts of church are you called to do today because of who God made you to be?
