O God, today we confess
our self-centered ways
our unsatisfied souls
the blessings we take for granted.
Give us today our daily bread,
And when we have food,
help us remember the hungry;
When we have work,
help us remember the jobless;
When we have homes,
help us remember those who have no home at all;
When we are without pain,
help us remember those who suffer,
And in remembering,
help to destroy our complacency;
bestir our compassion,
to be concerned enough to help
those who cry out for what we take for granted.
We are grateful today, and offer our blessings up to You
for Your kingdom to come, Your will to be done
on earth as it is in heaven,
Amen.
