INTRO–‘Which Path?’
You have no doubt experienced times in your life when you have come to a crossroads and needed to make a challenging life decision about which path to take. And the choices that you have made at those crossroads have indeed created the life you now live. Even more importantly the choices you are making today will indeed create the life you live tomorrow so it is vital that you make the right choices and take the right paths. Easter is indeed one of those life crossroads because if Jesus did rise from the dead and is Lord of the universe then that should affect everything you say and do as well as determine the path of life you should be walking.
QUESTION 1–‘Is The Resurrection True?’Read I Corinthians 15:3-8, 15
Is the resurrection of Jesus a historical fact? Even though the Bible is filled with parables and metaphors it must be stated that there is no question that the Biblical authors claimed to be eyewitnesses of Jesus resurrection and claimed it as a historical fact. There are also three other factors that must be considered when answering this question. The first is the empty tomb. No one has ever been able to produce the body of Jesus, then or now. The second is the personal sightings. Corinthians clearly states that well over 500 people, of whom most were still alive during the writing of this letter, actually saw Jesus alive. And finally personal encounters throughout the centuries. Jesus has appeared, made life changes, directed, protected, and shown up unexpectedly in many lives even up until the present day.
QUESTION 2–‘Do I Have A Resurrection Faith?’Read Matthew 6:24
If Jesus is truly alive the second question you must ask is do I have a resurrection faith or an Easter tradition? Tradition may be something you were taught or accept, but faith is action based on a set of assumptions and fundamental beliefs that you hold to be true. The life path you are on is your faith; the question is what is your faith resting upon? Classic human examples include materialism where meaning is based on possessions or money; relationships where security and decisions are based on another person or your family; and also human dependency where you totally depend upon yourself, your talents, and your truths to live life.
ACTION STEP–‘Join The Movement’Read John 21:15-17 & Matthew 25:34-40
You might find yourself stuck at a crossroads wanting to go down two paths, the one that Jesus calls you down and the one where you might personally want to go. However, you can only go down one path and the path that Jesus calls you to walk is not the easiest. But if you are ever going to experience Jesus and truly become that person God has called you to be you must seek after Jesus and begin serving Jesus’ interests. It is there that you not only will find Jesus but literally begin to change the world one life at a time.
