INTRO–‘Have You Seen Him?’Read John 14:6 & Acts 1:1-8

The disciples were convinced that Jesus was the son of God and that he was the way the truth and life that he claimed. However, Jesus was executed. When he died the disciples were no doubt confused, hurt, mad and afraid, and the road of hope had seemingly ended. But just when the story was suppose to end an inconceivable event happened, he resurrected from the dead. After the resurrection he began appearing to them off and on for 40 days until he finally commissioned them to go and tell the world what they had witnessed. And even though it’s been over 2000 years from that final appearance, God’s Spirit is still being poured out on present day disciples who are witnesses to Jesus showing up and empowering his servants.

STEP 1–‘My Thoughts into God’s Thoughts’Read Isaiah 55:7-9 & II Corinthians 10:5

You might have asked, ‘How and where does Jesus still appear and what does he do when he comes?’ The first way that he continues to appear is in your thoughts. In order to fully live out the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in your life you must first allow the Spirit to begin changing your thoughts into God’s thoughts. God desires to give you instruction on what to think, how to live, and where to fulfill the calling on your life. But you must begin seeking those directions, putting aside those human arguments and doubts that may arise trusting in God to change your thoughts and attitudes into his thoughts and attitudes.

• How has God worked to change some of your thoughts and attitudes about life? Where does God need to do some work?


• How do you control the noise, arguments, and doubts that often arise in your mind when you try to hear from God?

STEP 2–‘My Words into God’s Word’Read Hebrews 4:12 & Proverbs 3:5-6

The second way that Jesus appears is through the Word. The Scriptures are alive and active and God will speak to you and into your life right where you are if you will actively read it. The Word of God not only will show you how to live as a Jesus follower, it will also become a power source of will and want as your words become God’s words and ultimately your life will become God’s life.

• Where has God used his Word to change a direction, pattern, or characteristic in your life?


• How often do you seek God’s direction in the Word? How hard is it for you to move from hearing to doing God’s Word?

STEP 3–‘My Deeds into God’s Deeds’Read II Corinthians 5:10

Finally God appears in your life as you begin to move out in faith fulfilling the God-given purposes and calling for which you were created. Hearing the word of God and doing it are completely different things because it often takes great faith and trust to step out and do what God desires you to do. But once you begin turning over your deeds into doing God’s deeds, you will not only see God appear over and over again in your work, but you will be a world changer, one life at a time.
