: Why Pray? -week 2Sunday, Jun 27 2010
As Jesus walked on the earth, his relationship with his Father was so darn contagious that his disciples begged him to disclose his secrets. "Teach us to pray," they asked -and Jesus spoke a prayer to model how that conversation should look. Now as modern-day disciples, it's not the "want to pray" we lack, rather the "how to pray" that makes us crazy. Join us in worship this weekend as Pastor Mike breaks down The Lord's Prayer- and we discover fresh ways to connect to God.
- You were created to commune with God. Being honest, how strong is your desire right now to spend quality time in the presence of God?
- When you attempt to pray, do you struggle with what words to say or how to say them? How much of this struggle keeps you from praying regularly or often?
- Jesus tells us to call God “Father” or “Dad.” How would you describe your current picture of God? How would approaching God as a loving Father help you pray more often and more intimately?
- As God’s child you have been freed to make your life count. How are you fulfilling that calling?
- Prayer is much more than a formula designed to say the right things. What can you share with God today for which you are grateful? What can you share concerning your deepest felt need?
- Even though Jesus has forgiven you, have you forgiven yourself of faults and failures? How hard is it for you to forgive yourself from the wrongs you have committed?
