Love and Marriage

Have you ever wondered how in the world God could expect two people to live and love one another through every season of life - till death do them part? All it takes is one small offense and BAM! - that “lovin’ feelin’” is gone, gone, gone.  Most all of us have challenges in the area of LOVE – giving, receiving and understanding. This week we will explore biblical insight into God’s incredible intention of love – and marriage.  Daily devotionals that accompany each day's reading are also available on Facebook. They are created by a great Ginghamsburg unpaid servant team. You do not have to be a Facebook user to access them. View here.

Day 1: Read Genesis 2:15-24
Often it is helpful to go back to the beginning. What do you notice from this passage about God’s intention for the relationship between man and woman?  What about this passage is really appealing to you?

Day 2: Read Genesis 3
In Genesis 2 we saw that human beings were created by God for deep intimate relationships with one another. Genesis 3 is when sin enters the picture and messes it all up. What do you notice from Genesis 3 about how sin impacts us relationally? What does this look like in your life today?

Day 3: Read Matthew 1:18-24
How is Joseph a good example of a godly spouse and eventual parent? What from Joseph’s character do you want to emulate in your own life?

Day 4: Read Ephesians 5:21-33
What specifically does this have to say about the husband’s role in the marriage relationship? How is this challenging? How is it encouraging?

Day 5: Read Proverbs 31:10-31
Try and summarize in your words what this passage is saying about a woman of renown. How does this passage challenge you? How does it encourage you?

Day 6: Read 1 Corinthians 7:1-16
What insights does this passage share with us about the marriage relationship?  What does it say about the role of sexuality in the marriage relationship?

Day 7: Read Deuteronomy 6
According to this passage, what role is the family to play in impacting a child’s relationship with God? How should this influence the way you understand marriage? How does this challenge you?
