This week in worship our Point Campus Pastor Rosario Picardo brings a fresh word - calling the women and men of our Tipp City community to combine self-discipline with God-dependence - assuring the Spirit's work in us and through us.

Sermon Questions

Empowerment

At the end of the day, do you attempt to rely on yourself for what God alone can do? Is your faith in your own abilities or God’s? This week we will explore what happens when we combine self-discipline with God-dependence—assuring the Spirit’s work in us and through us.  Daily devotionals that accompany each day's reading are also available on Facebook. They are created by a great Ginghamsburg unpaid servant team. You do not have to be a Facebook user to access them. View here.

Day 1: Read Nehemiah 4
How is Nehemiah a great example of what a practice of empowerment looks like?

Day 2: Read Colossians 1:24-29
Is the work that Paul is involved in the result of his hard work or “energy of Christ”? Explain.

Day 3: Read Acts 4:1-27
What does this passage have to say about the practice of empowerment?

Day 4: Read Matthew 6:1-14
What role does the discipline of prayer play in a practice of empowerment?  What does this passage teach us about prayer?

Day 5: Read Mark 11:12-25
What does this passage have to say about the practice of empowerment?
How does it challenge you? How does it encourage you?

Day 6: Read Acts 8:1-3, 9:1-31 and 1 Timothy 1:12-17
Why would Paul consider himself to be the “worst of sinners”? How did God use Paul’s past to spread the gospel? What are some of your biggest failures that, in the hands of God, could be used to point people to Jesus?

Day 7: Read Matthew 19:16-28
Verse 26 is a powerful one. What is something you want to see change—either in or around you? Claim this verse in faith, and lift it up in prayer.
