Every moment of every day, we have a choice to make. We can either let the minutes pass us by or we can claim them for what they are: opportunities to unlock the full depth of life's potential. Join us this weekend as we welcome author and speaker Carlos Whittaker, sharing his methodology for living intentionally - claiming moments that touch the lives of others. We are excited to feature Carlos' message as a part of our current series, THIS IS MY STORY.

Sermon Questions

This Is My Story

As in life, circumstances in the Bible change in a moment, but sometimes the moment was simply missed. Hard or joyful, moments bring change to be acknowledged. Reflect this week on moments that were and unfortunately weren’t.  Daily devotionals that accompany each day's reading are also available on Facebook. They are created by a great Ginghamsburg unpaid servant team. You do not have to be a Facebook user to access them. View here.

Day 1: Read 2 Timothy 2:1:2; Luke 6:46-49
In what ways do you call Jesus “Lord, Lord” and don’t do what he says? How does reading 2 Timothy 2:1 encourage you? How can you use personal Jesus moments as a qualification to teach others to build a life foundation that won’t be destroyed?
Day 2: Read 2 Timothy 2:3-7; John 18:26-36
How do you empathize with Peter at the ####’s crow? How did this moment shape Peter into being The Rock of the church? Compare 2 Timothy 2:4 and John 18:36. Name a momentary action you felt bad about, only to realize later that it was part of God’s plan.
Day 3: Read 2 Timothy 2:8-10; Matthew 27:50-54
Compare any significant death in history to the moment of truth witnessed at Jesus’ death and the results of that powerful moment; for what gospel truth have you suffered? In what ways have you suffered? How is God’s word still not changed?
Day 4: Read 2 Timothy 2:14-26; Proverbs 12:14-22
How often do you quarrel? With whom? About what? How should these topics be released? What do you pursue with your moments: things or ways to shape a Godly character? Just as the words of Saul/Paul changed through faith, how has the fruit of your lips matured?
Day 5: Read 2 Timothy 3:1-9; Matthew 19:16-22
Which qualities apply to the young man described in 2 Timothy 3:2-4? Which qualities can apply to you in moments of weakness? What is the difference between having a bad moment or living in those qualities? Where is grace in a bad decision?
Day 6: Read 2 Timothy 3:10-17; Acts 1:12-26
Why did Timothy know Paul’s life? Or the disciples know all about Jesus and each other? Just as “all scripture is… useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training,” how is every life moment useful in the same ways? Who led the meeting in Acts 1? Recall Day 2’s study.
Day 7: Read 2 Timothy 2-3
In this moment, what is the Spirit teaching you? How has sharing moments with believers strengthened you? How can you control your calendar to engage in life’s moments more fully? Pick up a life group starter kit. Start a life group; you+2.
