Neighboring. You got the want-to, you got the need-to, so why oh why can't you reach out with love? For many of us the junk of our own souls precludes us from connecting with those closest around. Jesus knew the struggle would be real - and demonstrated a profound way to see through to what matters most. Won't you join us this weekend in worship as we together discover a new way to see - and experience - people?

Questions to go Deeper

Neighboring. You got the want-to, you got the need-to, so why oh why can’t you reach out with love? For many of us the junk of our own souls precludes us from connecting with those closest around. Jesus knew the struggle would be real – and demonstrated a profound way to see through to what matters most. Daily devotionals that accompany each day's reading are also available on Facebook. They are created by a great Ginghamsburg unpaid servant team. You do not have to be a Facebook user to access them. View here.

MONDAY John 13:1-11
Jesus washed his disciples’ feet. What was their response? How do you respond to unexpected humility and grace? How would you respond to Jesus?

TUESDAY Luke 7:11-16
Whom does Jesus see in this story? What does he do for the person that he sees? Whom do you see in your neighborhood? What is God asking you to do for or with that person?

WEDNESDAY Matthew 7:1-5 Sometimes we have a tendency to judge the people around us. Whom in the neighborhood have you judged? Why? What are you attempting to do when you judge?

THURSDAY Psalm 139:1-6
God searches our hearts and knows our motivations. Why do you do what you do? What are your motives? Do you do the things that you do out of fear or out of love?

FRIDAY Matthew 5:13-16
What does it mean to be salt and light? Do you share your faith? Do you believe it’s an effective way to share your faith? Why or why not? Has neighboring challenged the way you share your faith with your neighbors?

SATURDAY 2 Corinthians 5:16-21
Why should you or I be a good neighbor? What is God attempting to do through our relationship with God and others?

SUNDAY John 13:12-17
What modern practices of “foot washing” do you see throughout the community? The Church? The World? How is Jesus challenging you to “wash the feet” of your neighbors?
