| 2007 In 2007, the Sudan Project continued the second year of the five-year commitment to children’s safety and development—a project that is expanding to reach 15,000 children. 2007 also marked the first year of a four-year safe water and sanitation project that will result in 15 water yards providing clean, safe water to 219,000 Sudanese children, women and men by project conclusion. The original agricultural project has also expanded, and now feeds 65,000 Sudanese. In August 2005, Mike Slaughter, a Ginghamsburg team, and UMCOR representatives visited Darfur to meet the people and capture on video the crops, which were about to be harvested. God had performed a miracle. Harvest of the crops, started with 621,293 pounds of seed, in 2005 fed 5208 families, 26,000 Sudanese people, with enough left over to provide seed for next year's crop and a valuable product to barter. As of 2007, the agricultural project has expanded and now feeds 65,000 Sudanese. Viewing the video diaries requires the free Flash player plugin. Download here |
