PASSION: The Way Of Love

What about Jesus as Messiah would create such a clash with the political powers that be? And what might following Jesus have to do with our response to the political and religious authorities of our day? Taking our cues from Isaiah 53 – Messiah as Suffering Servant – Jesus’” way of suffering” may just answer questions we didn’t even know we were asking. Jesus followers ultimately come to realize that the power of love is such a greater force than the love of power.

From Series: "Passion: The Way of Suffering"

“Passion” is defined as a strong and barely controllable emotion. There’s also a second definition of passion that none of us would choose on our own – the suffering and death of Jesus – thanks, but no thanks! Yet every spring, Jesus-followers throughout the globe set aside time and attention to walk through the season of Lent, replicating Jesus’s sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days. What is it about walking with the suffering Jesus that somehow gifts us with clarity and strength for our own lives? We take a deep dive into the Gospel of Luke chapters 22-23, finding fresh faith and a passion we never knew existed.
